HISTORY OF PHYSIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

The Department of Physiology, RMC was established way back in1958 in the college campus of Rangaraya Medical College. Presently it is situated in the same block.
The Department has well furnished lecture gallery with smart board  and  this gallery is named after Dr.J.VASANTHAKUMAR, M.D   one  of the eminent professor who has served this Department and guided many Undergraduates & Postgraduates during his tenure.  Department of Physiology has well equipped Hematology lab, Clinical Physiology, Research lab. spacious  Demonstration rooms with LCD projector.
In  1977 , PG Course M.D Physiology was started , and since then many students have obtained their Master’s degree from this department under the guidance of many eminent professors. The department is actively involved in conducting classes and Practicals  for BSc Nursing, BSc Paramedicals ( B Sc MLT, BSc Anaes., BSc MIT ), Physiotherapy and Diploma Paramedical students.

Presently the Department of Physiology is headed by Dr.V.Uma M.D with 1 Professor, 3 Associate professors, 3 Assistant Professors, 2 Tutors and 1 Postgraduate.
